Claws of the Dragon

Description

Exhausted from her unsuccessful sprint across the rocky ground, she crumpled to the earth, gasping in ragged, panting sobs of terror. She could feel the beast's breath ruffle the limp, sweat-soaked strands of her hair as it leaned forward and growled. A tiny, last noise of protest ripped from her throat as mighty, wicked paws reached down and swept her into a pair of razor-sharp talons. Consciousness dripped from her mind as her feet left contact with the earth. The terror was simply too much for her to bear...

Or something like that. :)

Done for RuntimeDNA's monthly gallery challenge. This month's theme is (as if you couldn't already tell) "pulp." I had a LOT of fun with it. As I looked through pulp covers for online inspiration, I found I was most tickled by the images of nearly-bare women struggling with wicked looking beasts. This is my take of that idea. Win or lose, I'm absolutely delighted with how this turned out!

The original render looks so different from the postworked version! I used several different photoshop actions (ArtMaker 1-4 bundle by DreamWarrior & Deskar, avail. at RMP) and layered them while adjusting brightness/contrast and transparency.

Rendered in Poser Pro 2010. Postwork in photoshop CS3.

Hi Karen! I stumble on this and find this really fascinating. I have to say it felt vintage and have a nostalgic look to it! If its ok, may I ask how the process is done to turn it from a render into post work?
