Balance

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 7, 2009, 10:56 AM

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.
- Albert Einstein

If life is an ocean, then I have been surfing a tidal wave for the last half-a-year or so. I'm not sure how I've managed to keep from being completely submerged, but I'm sill here -- upright and breathing -- which is perhaps the best one can hope for some days. In any event, I think I'm reaching a place where the earthquakes in my world have stopped sending out aftershocks, and the first tiny signs of life are returning to the heaps of rubble. When I look around at the new landscapes of my life, I still sometimes find it hard to believe that I'm even the same person I was a year ago. Everything has changed. And yet, at the core, I have not. What's that expression...? "Wherever you go, there you are."

Well, here I am. And happy to be here. Even if I'm not entirely sure where "here" will be tomorrow...

:iconjacobcharlesdietz: continues to stun me with breathtaking vistas and amazing landscapes. I'm always excited to see new images from him pop up on my "deviations" page! Here are a few of my favorites:

chameleons

Featured Poet: blucrimson

:iconblucrimson: creates visual poetry that is both lovely to look at, and deeply emotional to read. I've always thought that truly great poems made the reader feel something personal and meaningful, regardless of the original inspiration for the piece. I've never been able to look at any of blucrimson's poetry without finding myself thinking, "Wow. I get that idea. I've felt that way." It's not suprising that blucrimson is the "Winner of Best Visual Poetry Artist" on DeviantArt! Here are just a few that are worth looking at:

Featured Photographer: PlametOrion

:iconplanetorion: intrigued me with very cool perspectives and interesting photo-manipulations. There is always something thought-provoking in PlanetOrion's pictures and I'm happy to share a few of my favorites here:

Glad that things are on the upswing for you!

Being cruel to people isn't funny. It's not edgy. It's disgusting.
:iconlenoueveo:
You have got that just exactly right :), tomoroow will always bring something new, a challenge, a dissapointment, a victory, a prixe and even a loss. However we do not change but adapt to conquer or make better what has happened before. Yes you are the same you but a little wiser and a little more understanding! ... Keep on growing :)

Uh-hum...See? I'm not the only one who sees a glimmer...

As for bicycles and balance? Guess Albert hadn't been introduced to the stationary bike yet, huh? :giggle:

Sometimes it would be nice to be on that bike and have life wash over you, not swamp you - be still for just a bit so you could catch your breath - and not have to worry about falling over.

Maybe that's what friends are for - the training wheels that let you sit and catch your breath before it's time to move forward again. :huggle:

From your lips to God's ears... She has one HELL of a sense of humor that sometimes drifts toward the cruel. But I'm with you in hoping that next year is a better one!
:iconkaribous-boutique:
Yes, I think you're right. I think wisdom only comes with (sometimes painful) experience, but it usually is worth the price. Thanks.
:iconkaribous-boutique:
Awww. Friends as training wheels. I like that. :tighthug: Funny how Albert never thought of THAT. :D
:iconchance-karen:
You quoted Cameron, didn't you? THAT has been bothering the crap out of me since I read it... I can't believe it took me this long to put my finger on that. Sheesh. Should have know. LOL!

simple is preferred over complicated, because simplicity is practical. Thus, it takes a simple mind - enter moi - to see practical - training wheels. LOL!

Um.... No. I didn't. Or at least not on purpose.

You think I'm much smarter than I really am!
